Gostol TST has successfully delivered and put into operation a PAB-1650x720x600 shot blasting machine at one of the leading aluminium producers in Egypt, which is also among the largest in the entire North African region. The company has over 50 years of tradition and produces more than 300,000 tons of primary aluminium annually. Its product portfolio includes aluminium ingots, wires, rods, plates and profiles used in various industries.
In the electrolysis process, anode blocks act as the positive electrode through which electric current flows. During the reaction, oxygen from the ore binds with carbon in the anode, forming carbon dioxide, while liquid aluminium accumulates at the bottom. As anodes wear out, they must be regularly replaced and thoroughly cleaned before reuse.
One of the key preparation steps is shotblasting, which removes impurities, improves electrical conductivity, ensures better adhesion of binders and facilitates surface inspection. This ensures the efficiency and reliability of the electrolysis process.
Anode blocks shot blasting machine type PAB-1650x720x600
The PAB type shot blasting machine is designed for efficient cleaning of anode blocks. Each workpiece is suspended from a power-and-free conveyor system that transports it through the machine. During the blasting process, the workpiece rotates, increasing the effectiveness of the shotblasting. A blow-off chamber is installed at the outlet, where any remaining abrasive and dust are removed from the surface of the workpieces using fans.
The machine is equipped with three 30 kW ir blasting wheels and is capable of processing anodes up to 1650 mm in length, 720 mm in width, and 720 mm in height.
Challenging working conditions during assembly
The assembly took place under challenging working conditions, including high temperatures typical of the Egyptian climate and heavy industrial dust generated during aluminium production. These circumstances demand a high level of flexibility and professionalism from our fitters.
Our fitters often face similar challenges at work, so they are well trained to work in extreme environments. Despite all the challenges, they carried out all tasks professionally, successfully completed the installation and handed over the machine for operation. Their experience and professional approach were key factors in the successful implementation of the project.
With the successful delivery and installation of the PAB-1650x720x600 shot blasting machine, we have once again proven that we are a reliable partner, even for implementation of projects in the most demanding conditions. We are pleased to have provided our partner with a solution that will contribute to an efficient and high-quality aluminium production process.
