A modern industrial centre is being built in northern Europe, intended for the production of steel towers for wind farms with a capacity of up to 15 MW. The newly established company, which is expected to start operating in the summer, will make a significant contribution to the development of green energy and technological progress in the region with an annual capacity of more than 200 towers and more than 500 new jobs. The production hall, which is 6.2 hectares in size, is designed in accordance with the latest industry 4.0 standards.
We are proud to have been included in the project as a partner by supplying the largest roller conveyor shot blasting machine, type P-4200x400, in the history of the Gostol TST company.
Perfect surface preparation - even for the largest and heaviest sheets
The machine is designed for shotblasting steel sheets that will be an integral part of wind turbine towers. Individual assemblies can be up to 50 meters long, 10 meters in diameter and weigh up to 500 tons. The P-4200x400 enables the processing of sheets up to 4200 mm wide and from 4.8 to 31 m long, with a roller conveyor capacity of 3500 kg/m. The inlet roller conveyor is 32 meters long and the outlet roller conveyor is 40 meters long, allowing even larger segments to be processed.
The machine is equipped with eight blasting wheels of 18.5 kW each, which ensure high blasting uniformity, and a number of options aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operating costs. The key advantages of the options are: Lower energy costs, lower abrasive consumption, easier planning and fewer production interruptions, and improved shotblasting process.
Industry 4.0 in practice: shot blasting machine as part of smart production
The shot blasting machine is connected to the Sm@rt cloud platform, which enables connectivity, smart control and digital traceability. The industry 4.0 system is thus also reflected in the shot blasting process:
- Connectivity and remote access: All key operating parameters are recorded and transferred to the cloud, where they are accessible anywhere and anytime.
- Real-time monitoring: The platform enables monitoring of efficiency, component wear and detection of deviations to reduce downtime.
- Preventive maintenance: The system automatically alerts the need to replace wearable vital parts before failure occurs.
- Trend analysis and improvements: machine data allows long-term optimisation of consumption and improvement of machine performance.
The P-4200x400 roller conveyor shot blasting machine is part of a new production line designed according to Industry 4.0 principles. It is becoming more than just a machine - it is becoming a smart system that makes a significant contribution to competitiveness and sustainable production through its performance, reliability and digital support.
