Blasting chamber is a complete device designed for manual blasting of various metal parts (weldments of larger dimensions, parts of different shapes and sizes, etc.) with compressed air. Steel or mineral abrasives can be used for process.
Sandblasting in the blasting chamber is carried out manually using a blast nozzle, which is directed by the worker to the workpiece. The blasting nozzle is connected to a pressure vessel via a blast tube from which, during operation, the abrasive with compressed air is blasting with high speed (110 m/s).
The blasting chamber can be designed as a transit type (workpieces enter on one side and exit on the other side) or a non-transition type (workpieces enter and exit in a blasting chamber on the same side). The blasting chamber therefore has a built-in door that can be opened manually.
The chamber housing consists of individual segments made of structural steel and profiles or sandwich panels.
During sandblasting, the worker working in the blasting chamber must be adequately protected from the impact of abrasive and dust with gloves and a heavy protection clothes.
Due to the presence of dust in the chamber, fresh air is supplied to the worker for breathing through a special pipe that leads from the air installation via a reducing valve, a filter unit and an air conditioner to the suit. The worker can adjust the flow of fresh air for breathing.
Lighting during sandblasting is provided with electric ceiling lamps, which provide adequate lighting during work. This is especially important due to the dust that is released during sandblasting and reduces the overall visibility in the chamber.
Due to the dust generated during sandblasting, air is discharged through the collection pipeline to the dust collector. Cleaned air is released into the atmosphere or back in blasting chamber for heating.
The inner side walls of the blasting chamber and the door are lined with rubber lining.
Chamber floor
The collection of the used abrasive is carried out by hoppers and screw conveyors. The entire floor of the chamber is completely covered with walking grates, so that the used abrasive is collected over the entire surface of the floor in suitable collection funnels and transported to the elevator via longitudinal and transverse screw conveyor. In the middle of the chamber there is a track for transport of workpieces on a trolley into and out of the chamber.
